EPS still dominant on the Serbian market
(Kragujevac, February 1st 2014)
Serbian state-owned utility "EPS" is likely to remain dominant on the Serbian market even after thousands of medium-voltage customers enter the free market January 2013. Serbian electricity market was opened up as state-owned utility EPS started trading on the free market and 27 of largest, or "high-voltage" customers were obligated to source their power from the open market. From 1 Januar 2014, half of the market will be liberalised, with smaller commercial users known as "medium voltage" customersable to buy on the free market. Households will follow from 1 January 2015. However, it is hard to companies who want to enter the retail market to attract new customers because EPS was offering the cheapest prices.
